How to find the ip of a renegade server? [message #335777]

Hello!
You know that there is a command which can let you to connect directly to a renegade server. The problem is that you have to know which ip the server has. So, is there a possibility to find out this ip of a server?

If it's connected to gamespy, then gamespy will give you this information. If it isn't connected to gamespy, then ask the server owner for the ip. Big chances aret hat he doesn't want to give it out for direct connecters as it's a security risk, though.

Anyone posting a way to get IP's from xwis servers will get a warning. If troop does so, he'll get a 2 weeks ban. Just so we're clear.

I don't use Ren IP nor do I direct connect but sometimes it helps.

RenIP is very old now and isn't really much use. I wouldn't bother with direct connect. There is nothing bad that you can do any more as most servers are protected.

Why would you want the IP is what I want to know?

It would allow him to play on the server with anyone's name if he were evil.
Other than that you can place a shortcut on your desktop to directly connect to the server rather than going through WOL/Gamespy and/or loading renegade.
