Ever since I moved to university, when I try to play renegade I have no less than a 750 ping. However, when I play another game like CS:S I have around a 50 ping.
I don't think it has anything to do with the network itself, since we do have a fairly nice connection here for it being free with the rooms, enough to usually download around 200kb/s anyway.
But I have no idea why only renegade would have such a high ping, and no other game. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this, or happens to know a way to solve it.

I don't think it is. I don't have to login to access the internet on my own PC, and the effect is constant instead of only occuring in 15 minutes intervals.
Plus it only applies to renegade, and not games in general.
