WRONG!!!!!!!!!
you can get a 1 year trial of 64bit for xp. BUT, if you do, you need to relized the following things.
There are NO applications set to run 64 bit, if you try to run 32 bit programs in a 64 bit area, you will get problems
In order to run the 64 bit operating system with out any major lag, you will need ATLEAST 4 gigs of ram, most computers dont even have 512...
Its a beta program, there are tons off errors in it, so i wouldnt considering having it set as your main system if you were to use it.

The processor is called AMD Athlon64
Some games, such as Far Cry is designed to run with it.
32bit programs can run with 512mb of ram in WinXP64 Evaluation (Trial) smoothly, and only certain games that are older or rely heavily on SSE2 crashes alot. I have it.
If you are trying to save money and get a fast computer, Athlon64 is better than P4E for you.

It would run faster, but not more stable.

I know this is old, but unless you're using science applications that happen to be crunching huge equations, 64 bit processors actually slow things down a bit.

Athlon64 may have sacrificed some stablilities now to get better performance than P4. But WinXP64 retail version will make it stable like P4.
