Sorry for the bump but whats the difference between the 5e Network Patch Cable and the 5e Network Crossover Cable?.

http://www.cat-5-cable-company.com/faq-difference-between-patch-crossover.html

Yes im fucking stupid which one is for connecting for connecting modem to router then from router to a pc? the patch cable?

Yes, you use the patch cable.

The crossover cable is used usually for connecting 2 computers.

If I have a large amount of data to move from one computer to another, I would use a crossover cable, assign IP's, configure sharing, and start copying/moving files directly into the other computer.

Well we do use file sharing and i do assign ips manuel into the Ivp4 settings and I do copy large files sometimes from one pc to other...inc remote desktop using REAL VNC

If you build a simple network you can do the same thing. 1 hub with all the other computers wired into it. You can find hubs everywhere. I was using a series of small 4 and 8 port hubs. With my new setup I'm running a dlink with 40 connections or something. Something big. I'm not even using all of it but its way more convenient since its rackmount.

On a 300 foot span I was transferring at close to 50 mb/second. I should be able to get a little more speed if I clean up the wiring a little. I'm getting some interference and must be getting some signal loss.

Only thing I got is a modem that connects to a belkin router thats connects to my pc (0.5 feet away) and my moms pc (about 50 feet or less feet away) I want the wire for that distance along with the stuff I do without losing speed.
