I'm American, and every nation has a different genre that always leads their charts. In America, it just happens to be pop-punk and rap/R&B.

I never said that every last artist on the American Top 40 is always pure shit. I've admitted to a few bands here and there being talented that were mainstream. It's just been awhile, and no singles from the last Muse album hit the top 100. The closest they were was like 101.

whoa.

Now you're starting to make sense. Most of top 40 music disgusts me as well, because it's made by a bunch of people, who were "created" by a record label just to earn as much money as possible. Then, through marketing, a certain group of people starts to "enjoy" (it's hard for me to believe they actually enjoy this type of music) this music, whilst forcing it up on others, which basically come down to this: Like this type of music to be cool.

Sometimes I scroll through one of my mates iTunes and all I see are popular songs. They don't buy an entire album because they like the band, nooooo, they download the ONE popular song from the band/artist and play it over and over and never take the trouble to listen or buy the album, showing they don't actually appreciate the music. They just listen to it because it is the cool thing to do.

This is what I'm talking about when I say mainstream. It's horrible music. I mean, how else can you explain why the song "Low" has been on the American Top 100 list for 7 months? It's still #24 on the damn list.

whoa.

I know plenty of people who hate ACDC.

I like some of their songs... but nothing worth downloading. They are a good radio band.

And yes, all the "top" music today sucks.

Holy fuck, I type up some lyrics and it starts a debate on modern musical trends.

Awesome.

Maybe I should start replying to Troop's threads with, like, System of a Down or something.

Edit: R3, YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU BASTARD Shocked

Coldplay, Atreyu, Finger Eleven, Rise Against and a little bit of Three Days Grace is the shit.

I have lots of 60's, 70's and 80's stuff too. I'm big into Journey, Foreigner, Styx, that kind of stuff.

Edit: I forgot REM. This is unacceptable.

yeah
