0x90 wrote on Sun, 07 January 2007 07:22 | fortunately my english isnt good enough to translate "piece of pond life" correctly but then again something tells me that not understanding it is ok in this case. or are you flaming now?!

It was not a compliment... in fact, you can interpret it as a flame.
0x90 wrote on Sun, 07 January 2007 07:22 | and like crimson stated correctly: i dont play renegade. i even dont own any serial so serial-banning me from xwis should be quite hard anyways
|
Your life must truly suck if you spend so much time trying to destroy a game you don't even play. Yes, that was a flame too.
This does not answer why you are not banned from this forum.
Crimson wrote: | When have I ever implied that I SUPPORT his software product???? Are you on crack? I don't support his software or his motives for creating it in the SLIGHTEST degree and it's ludicrous that you'd ever think that.
|
I'd have an easier time addressing this paragraph if I know what the hell you were talking about, since I didn't say you support his software product.
Crimson wrote: | What is the point of a ban if it doesn't keep the person from doing the thing you're trying to stop them from doing?!??!?!?!?!

I repeat: it would send a clear message that you oppose it.
Say I ran a pub. Someone used my pub as a venue to deal drugs, and I barred them for it. Would that stop them dealing drugs? In all likelihood, no. It'd make it pretty damn clear that this pub of mine officially opposes dealing drugs on the premises, wouldn't it?
|
If someone brings the drugs onto your premises, then you have every right to ban them. If they however are acting as a good citizen and don't bring the drugs onto your premises, I don't think that the fact that they deal drugs elsewhere would be a good reason to remove them from the premises: they haven't broken any rules. And in fact, if they're being kind, courteous, helpful towards others, and STILL not breaking rules, I think it would make you look like a dick rather than them.
CW.cc is different. It's not just supporting the CW.cc forums, it's also supporting the games played under CW.cc, so has every right to ban someone from both the games and the forums. But if someone starts cheating in a game that does *NOT* have the CW.cc banner (let's say for example, some random Renegade server, or some other random game), I don't think you should ban them if they're still kind, courteous, and helpful towards others in Renegade and on your forums.
Why he chooses to write hacks for software related to a game that he doesn't even play is beyond me. But the fact that he's kind to the people that use it, helpful to the people that have trouble with it, and probably more intelligent about it than most of us here, makes me agree with the idea of not banning him.

1.Yes he did
2. He doesn't play ren so no serial to ban
3. He hasn't broken forum rules and actually helps people here

I'm sorry. I guess I was under the impression that this forum and community officially took a dim view of people who cheat, and who make and distribute cheats. I stand humbly corrected.

If we didn't allow people who cheat to post here, then why would we have a forum dedicated to RenGuard bans?

OK, I will ban 0x90 from XWIS as soon as I figure out which serial it is. Forgive me if it will take a while considering I will have to wait for him to buy one, then to use it.
I will also ban him from the place where I work in Scottsdale, AZ because that will be equally effective.
Hey, 0x90, just in case you thought otherwise, I 100% disapprove of the software you have created, but so long as you are not trying to spread secrets, encourage others to cheat, or HELP others to cheat, you can remain a member here.

I am current spending a couple hundred dollars to get RenGuard completed sooner. Thanks to tthom of UNrules.com for helping me out with that. The guys have been given a February 1st deadline to get the private beta resumed or the value of their compensation will decrease dramatically the longer it takes.
If anyone has any better advice on how to motivate volunteers, I'm all ears.

of course i didnt thought otherwise but thanks for not banning me and so i will go on like before (thus not breaking any of the rules you mentioned).

Goztow | Without him, there wasn't an urgent need for 1.04
|
There is, just have a look on all the bugs RG 1.03 has.
Most of the windows 2000 users and many other people aren't even
able to use renguard because of SVKP.
|
im with cat998 here: i think there IS an urgent need for a newer version.. with or without actual cheats/bypasses.
@crimson: youre really giving your own _private_ money away for a new renguard? either you got too much of it or you really have to love this game/community. in case of the latter: my respect, honestly
so i guess "hacking" renguard1.04 cant be done with a clear conscience.
regards

She's not the only one that really has their heart into this community. I think all of us do in some way (except maybe Dave Mason aka DJM, donno what he's doing around here, really).

No, I'm definitely not the only one. All told, I spend about $450US per month on my three servers. I generally don't see more than $50 a month in donations, though sometimes I do get more. My heart IS really in this game as it has been since I started playing it in the beta test.
At one time, BHS would have welcomed the challenge such as when we defeated CyberPrick's little bypasses within hours after their release. We lost a very vital member of our team at a horrible time and have been struggling ever since.
But, as always, I will fight on. I just want what everyone wants... as many people playing as possible, and for those players to be playing without an unfair advantage.

Indeed.
I think people who make cheats aswell as the players who cheat should be shot then nuked.

I never said we didn't. What I did say is people don't get banned for not breaking the rules, unless there is a special reason.

Making a cheat that alot of n00bs are using, aint a speical reason? o.O
