The monitor will still work, you have probaby used a setting it can't handle.

Lower your graphics to 640x480, and refresh rate to 60Hz, and make sure your old monitor works with it.

Once you've done that, keep your old monitor plugged in and increase the resolution to 1024x768

then the refresh to 65.

Keep going until you hit the limit, or are happy with what you see.

I'll give that a whirl BTW. I've found what was doing it, Daemon-Tools a virtual drive program and I removed it.

Edit: I tried that but it didn't work.
