for those of you who know my posts, i don't rate myself a good player. i'm just joe "below" average when it comes to fps games. anyway... i was playing with a friend this evening, hooked up by phone as usual. the first strange thing is we were on the same team 4 out of 5 games. usually it's the other way around. lol. secondly, i was on the winning side 4 times in a row(sorta my conspiracy theory in reverse), and i actually was first on the winning side once! i didn't get mvp cause the best guy on the losing team had more points(right?). well, we called it a night, but i couldn't sleep. i hung around the forum boards for awhile and then i decided to play one more game. i jumped onto a server that wasn't full and entered just as the game was ending(on the winning side no less!). then next game was on hourglass and it was a back and forth game for the first several minutes with gdi out to a few hundred point lead(i was nod). then things turned around and when it ended i was mvp! i'm now ranked below 3000 for the first time ever(my ranking before this evening was over 15000) and i can hardly believe it! i know, big whoop, right? well, for you good players, it's no big deal, but for me, it's the most awesome thing that's happened since the game came out! if nothing else, it might humble a few of you regular mvp types out there to know how much us regular players want to be like you. anyway, that's all i have to say about that. lol...

I’m gonna brag a little bit here now. I play in a bunch of different servers, not just n00bs, people are average to good and sometimes very good players. I play on the DS3 80 player max map as well. My best there is MVP with 54 players. The other night I played 20 games straight (obviously several hours worth), I was MVP 12 times, once 6 times in a row. This game was made for me. How does it feel? It feels **** great. I usually own in Half-life Deathmatch Classic in the same way, but put me in Tribes 2 or Counter-Strike (which I love), and I’m just average. I don’t get it. But you know what, there is a down side. When I’m MVP in Renegade, I expect it. When I have the best kill/death ratio in CS, it means a helluva lot more to me. All this to say, your MVP probably meant a whole lot more to you than my exploits because when it gets common it just isn’t as exciting.

ya know, what you just said is true(what the hell am i still doing up!?). the one thing i am(was) good at is golf. i played on the high school golf team and my senior year, we came in second in state. when i played with "regular" golfers, they would sometimes be amazed and tell me i was a pro. i would always shrug those complements off as just hacker talk. it never dawned on me that they were truly in awe of my game and wished they could play so well. when the game ended they would be happy to break 90 or even a hundred, but i would be upset if i didn't break 80. so now(finally) I'M humbled! d@mn, anybody got a tissue? there's something in my eye....
