Editing/Making Skins [message #-985841] Thu, 16 January 2003 02:47 Go to next message

I've become interested in making my own skins and on www.cncden.com there is quite a good tutorial (http://www.cncden.com/renegade_skin_tut.shtml). I have been following the instructions but when I open the tool "XCC Mixer" it always freezez when it starts searching through the Skirmish00 file in the Data file......I just tried opening the file, with no other programs open and after 5 minutes of loading it gave me the error message "System Low on virtual memory".

Does anyone that has used this tool before know how to fix this problem?

cheers,

Pwnage

Try restarting your computer.

You have to open the always.dat file in your renegade data folder with the xcc file...... I don't think you should be double clicking on the skirmish files..... if that is what you are doing.... I have the file from cncden and it works fine for me....but if it still doesn't work I can email you some of the skins you want to make modifications of in a zip folder..... [Big Grin]

It's no boat anchor. It's plenty good [Smile]

P4 1.4 GHZ
768 MB Ram
Gf2 MX/MX 400
40 GB HD

But the thing is the program loads up, it seems then to scan my HD then freezes somewhere in it's scan. So I'm lost on this problem. [Frown]

I haven't really got time to find out all my computer specifications but it is bloody fast and has loads of memory left. Yes, I have tried restarting my computer but that does not do anything. ALSO I am not clicking on the Skirmish00 file, but if you look at the bottom of the XCC Mixer program it says which file it is currently searching through, and when it gets to Skirmish00, it freezes and says "Low on Virtual Memory".
