I'm running windows XP pro and I was just wondering which of these I can close out without crashing the PC..

I was hoping to close most of them out, and hope for a better FPS.. Confused but even freeing up some ram would be good.

You could try closing all of the things except the ones that say SYSTEM or EXPLORER.EXE, but it can make your computer unstable.

No. Seriously. No.

Probably the only way to get a better FPS is to disable that "vsync" option if the game has it. It sometimes tears and clips the screen, but it's the only way to play with a decent FPS.

Don't close any tasks that are either:

Local Service
System
Network Service

Anything that is your own can be closed.

Explorer.exe is the Windows environment so don't close that.
CCAPP.EXE is Norton Auto Protect

IPclient, viewmgr, Ipmon32 must all be programs you like to have running. Guess you are one worried kid will all those scanners.

No clue what WSCNTFY is...

rundll is just a part of windows

First Hit the user tab up top you should see either system or your user name, hitting that tab will sort by user. then anything under your username highlight then hit end process. If you get a blue screen or the computer shuts down on you you ended a needed one. Smile

That depends on what Video Card you have, With ATI card sit i sunder Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > 3D - then under Custom settings for OpenGL and Direct 3D set wait for vertical sync to never.
