I'm currently re-energising the clanwars league, setting new servers up, improving the system generally... check the forums at clanwars.cc. there are various threads about my new ideas for the league.

cheers

there's good news there, because the pointsfix will be used in the clanwars league.

if you make a list of the players who did the damage to clanwars' reputation i.e. continually breaking rules, trying to get any advantage possible, and starting flamewars all the time for no reason... and then if you make another list of people who've expressed unbridled outrage at the pointsfix, you've basically made the same list twice

if you make a list of people who supported using it in clanwars you'd have a huge list
maybe one or two people

they will play with it because they don't care; they just want to play, which is why people have hung around this long

that's ok, because the people who opposed it -a- had a habit of completely disregarding any admin rules that they felt got in the way of their advantage, and -b- got caught rigging polls several times.

so whether policy is decided by admins or by majority, they lose either way cos they don't respect the admins and they don't respect democracy, so neither admins nor democracy need to respect them back.

i don't believe that every single player from clanwars.cc who did not the pointmod used in clanwars or did not like the pointmod were all players who
Quote:

had a habit of completely disregarding any admin rules that they felt got in the way of their advantage
and

got caught rigging polls several times.

i believe that applies to some of them, but who supported the pointmod? i believe it was only yourself and whiskey? you mean to tell me that every other player in the clanwars community

? why do you even bother hosting a ladder in such a horrible place full of poll-rigging and rule-breaking hooligans? Huh

then i guess you forgot what happened last time. if you remember there were something like 6-7 people currently arguing against the pointsfix, every single one of whom had a really crappy record in terms of honesty, fairplay etc.

No, I said everyone vehemently opposed to it was the kind of player who didn't listen to the admin (i.e. broke rules all the time), and therefore was in no position to expect the admin to listen to them. Although, of course, I went to incredible lengths to listen to them.

i guess i just think the game needs a clan ladder for the benefit of those who play fair, even if they're a minority.

you claim the only people who were violently opposed to it were rule-breakers and Renegades; what about the rest of the clanwars.cc community that did not want it used in clanwars while not being fanatical on the issue? Sad

Exactly, what about them? If they want a clan league with the pointsbug, what have they done about it? fuck all, that's what. the only person who hosted a clan league with the pointsbug is, that's right, me... and even though they had a clan league available with the pointsbug for the last year or so, they didn't even make use of it.

now you have people like simpee and zell saying IM NOT PLAYING CLANWARS WITH THE POINTSFIX. check the battlelogs, they haven't played clanwars in a year.

but for all intents and purposes he has to name them to discredit them and make them look bad!11

Cw.cc: Spoony, we don't like the pointmod and don't want to use it in clanwars. And you autoreport buffer maps.
Spoony: Fuck you, go make your own league.

fair enough; that's the easy way out of any argument
it's his so he can do what he wants with it; that doesn't mean he's not a penis though

I ran clanwars as a dictatorship, of course I did, but I always kept the floor open for debate. If someone could logically explain what was wrong with a decision, why it was unfair, it'd be changed. if that case was not successfully made, the decision would stand. Saying "but 90% of people agree with me!" doesn't fly, sorry.

But here's the thing. I went to incredible lengths to listen to people who went to incredible lengths to AVOID listening to me. You're asking: why is this admin not listening to the community? (which shows you don't even read the threads, but we'll ignore that). I reply: the people you're talking about don't listen to the admin. They outright disregard rules they don't like. This was true for EVERY SINGLE PERSON you were siding with. Cheaters, pointpushers and rulebreakers.

I don't make rules to please people who continually break them. If anything, when one of your rules has all the cheaters and pointpushers and rulebreakers in such terror, you might think you're on to something.

As for "go make your own league", you say that as if it isn't an extremely good argument. There is nothing, absolutely nothing stopping the likes of simpee making or buying his own league. You support each community's right to choose pointsfix or no pointsfix? Of course you do, you signed roni's petition. That means if Clanwars chooses to use the pointsfix, you ought to approve of tha,t and if some of its players don't like it, they can go make their own league. But you didn't, instead you supported the people like simpee who tried to subvert the admin's decision. When you spoke out in support of these saboteurs instead of the rightful league owner, you clearly didn't realise how much damage you were doing to your own credibility, but I would have hoped you'd have realised by now.

But still, I'm still the bad guy here, because I wanted to use the pointsfix in my league. Now, I'll repeat that statement.
I wanted to use the pointsfix in my league.

pay attention to the word "wanted". It was never compulsory. Who's the only person who hosted a clanwars league with the points bug, even after the pointsfix was created, in spite of his approval of the pointsfix? Apparently that makes me a "penis"... wanting to use the pointsfix, but still hosting a league with the pointsbug. But when cheaters and pointpushers actively subvert someone else's league, you don't have a single bad word to say about it. Like I said, I don't think you realise how much damage you're doing to your own credibility here.

two people wanted it; you're acting like more wanted it but simpee and the gang of hooligans negated them

every community has a choice; the fact that you chose what you wanted over what literally everyone else wanted (minus a single person who just so happened to be your right hand man) made you look like a penis, or a big fat dicktator

if it makes the game more balanced and fair then in time clanwars players will learn to accept it or be forever bitter because they wish for the olden days to return

to be fair i never said you could not do whatever you wanted; i just never really understood why you had no problem whatsoever with making a decision that every single player did not want (minus yourself and whiskey)

No, I don't need to say "sufficient people agree with me". I'd rather say "nobody has been able to refute what I said". That is not the first time majority has been against me at Clanwars, and not the first time when I turned out to be right, and not the first time when if the "majority" were listened to, the consequences may have been disastrous.

liquidv2 wrote on Thu, 22 October 2009 23:00

I love how you keep saying this about whiskey. "he just so happened to be your right hand man". He just so happened to be the only person other than me who gave enough of a shit about the clanwars community to help run a league. You say this as if it's a bad thing, as if it somehow negates his opinion. Yet when I say: the people who most vehemently opposed the pointsfix have a long history of disregarding admin decisions and therefore they shouldn't think I ought to listen to them at all, you act like I don't make an incredibly important point by saying so. My good sir, I put it to you that you've got the entire situation about as upside-down as you could possibly get it.

liquidv2 wrote on Thu, 22 October 2009 23:00

Actually, if it makes the game more balanced and fair then that is precisely why many people will always oppose it, specifically the very people you were so quick to defend.

liquidv2 wrote on Thu, 22 October 2009 23:00

That's because you don't understand how to run a league, and there's no reason why you should. Given a choice between doing what you think is right and doing what you think will make you popular, a good admin will take the flaming.
