I play on a MX 420 and don't see any problems.

The whole object is to have a few icons in the system tray(the place with you clock) as possible. When I was on a cable modem(in Windows 98se mind) I had that little yellow speaker and the Zonealarm icon.

If you are playing a action oriented Multiplay you don't need:

IM progs
AV progs
TSRs of any kind

Exit them before hand or prevent them from starting in the first place Very Happy

, to save both memory space and processor cycles. AV progs especially expand to take up a lot of room in memory that they don't need under the pretext that they are scanning incoming data for viruses on the fly, while I'm sure that there are viruses that propagate over networks like that, I'm also sure that they aren't going to get by my firewall to affect my system.

IMO, the only time a program should be running is if I have told it to run and am usin it or if I have stepped away from the machine but was using it.

There was a time when people were impressed that I have the firepower to decimate a planet in under 10 minutes.
