56k modem dialing 26k [message #90637]

The longer dial pattern I can relate to. I used to have a 56k modem which would occasionally do the same thing. All I did was disconnect and re-try a few times and it would be back at 49,333. Confused

This might seem like a dumb thing, but have you tried disconnecting right after connecting and trying again? Also, I'd check your modem properties in start > settings > dial-up networking > properties of your modem. Have a look around, there is an option somewhere to set the maximum speed of your modem. Something (or someone) could have changed that setting.

If this fails, I'd give your ISP a call.
