C'mon carl. Anyone who has vaguely studied the American economy knows how large it is. It can't just turn on a dime like that. Economic trending indicates it takes a full year for financial impacts to turn a market fully. It's not like the economy crashed after 9-11. It took a yaer and a half to get where we are now, and it's just starting to turn around. If the economy was at the whim of human opinion like that, we would be in big trouble.
