It's the internet, who cares?

I don't understand that logic. The internet isn't separate from everything else in life, it's just another medium for communicating with people. Sure, you might never come into face-to-face contact with the people you meet online, but I don't see why that makes it ok to treat them badly. Is the possibility of physical confrontation the only reason that you would have respect for another person's feelings in "real life"? Or do you actually have some kind of empathy for other people? If it's the latter, then why doesn't that apply to people you talk to on the internet? They still have feelings the last time I checked.

If you were to call me a dumbass lets say, why should I care? You don't know me or anything about me. I think people care too much about other peoples opinions over the internet. I think the internet is some peoples way to vent their anger. Which is why there is so many flame wars
