"A rifle has destructive power comparable to that of a thermonuclear warhead."

They both kill people - therefore, they would be comparable.

I don't know the story on Genocide faking his death, so I won't pretend to. However, maybe he was trying to durm up support for his mods. A thread might have gone something like this:

"OMG Genocide is dead? What about all his great mods?"
"NOOOO RENEGADE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN!"
"I know! Someone get an African Shaman quick to resurrect him!"
"I got a rate quote from Shamans "R" Us.. We need to pool $4,500 fast!"
"Ill design 4 websites dedicated to nothing but fans of Genocide's mods!"
"I'll throw in a thousand bucks for the shaman thing!"
"OMG LI3K U GUYS ARE S00 GULLIBLE! LOL U NOOBS!"
"Oh my god, he insulted our trys to get Genocide back! Someone get a hitman on him!"
"I'll spam his IP!"
"I'll make a virus to stop his CPU fan and melt his computer!"
"I've got 300 for the shaman!"
[Genocide]"Hey guys, I was just kidding about the whole "death" thing! Just pulling your leg a bit..."
"YES! THE SAVIOR!"

While I severely doubt this is how it went down, it could happen.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)
