Okay, well i just decided to open the case up and give it a major dust out. It's unbelievable how much crap gets caught in the fans over 2 years - I swear i could've filled a pint glass with the amount of dust fluff i removed.
The original hope was to make the whole system a little quieter, but unfortunately it's had no effect.
Now... after removing/cleaning/replacing all the fans i've noticed that they're all basic ball bearing fans, except for one that's designed to be super quiet (a case fan at the front).
Finally decided to invest in some quiet fans and a controlling module i can adjust the speed of them from the front of the case.
General Havoc, lemme know how it goes when your fans arrive. I've also looked at my power unit in the case, and i see that it's not got a venting thing on the base, like the AMD Cooling Guide recommended, i'll probably get me one of them too.
GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB: This has two fans on it, that aren't directly cooling anything, it's weird, here's a screenshot. I'm undecided whether i should unplug these two fans on the gfx card, but they gotta be there for a good reason... any tips?
