How does one preach peace but then turn around and start war?
|
With that, you make the assumption that all or most Christians believe that the Crusades were valid/righteous/etc.
GEORGE ZIMMER wrote on Mon, 18 April 2011 20:12 | And if you're implying people deep into science are just as bad... just, no. I'd be inclined to agree that they're still shutting their minds off to other possibilities, but they still contribute and help the world progress. Deeply religious people do not.
|
Why not?
A deeply religious person may simply believe, without doubt and with full certainty, that he should live to help others above himself. Is that not progress?
And what if a man believes in science so much that he performs research with its priority above human or animal life, or personal safety, trying to find an answer? Is that progress?
Aircraftkiller wrote on Mon, 18 April 2011 20:05 | Yet people decided it was easier to oversimplify the issue by saying "everyone religious is an idiot". Which is obviously not the case. Believing in something that you do not is not an indication of intelligence or personal worth.

Well said.
