Until you get a battle between 5 different infantry units with 5 different sets of music trying to down each other out... that would be torture to the ears...

Actually, given Renegade's tiny limit on the number of concurrent sounds, the music would probably get wiped out by all the firing sounds, the same way tank track sounds sometimes disappear if your in a large battle with lots of sounds going on at once.
