Well if you had the money I would recommend getting the new AMD 1060T X6. When Benchmarked this chip was on par and sometimes better then the i7 920 and it just plugs straight into an existing AM3 Motherboard. Its bigger brother the 1090T was only beaten by the world-class I7 980 which is the CPU king but it also retails at around $1000+ compared to the $350- AMD chip.
I know what i'd choose....

The Phenom X6 is impressive, but then the 1060T costs more than a i7 920/930. For multithreaded applications, and benchmarks, it's great, but it lags when it comes to gaming compared to the i7 920, and even the Phenom 965. I'm assuming gaming is what SSnipe is after.
I think the money is best spent on a Phenom 955 or i5-750 and then more can be spent on a nice graphics card, or an SSD.
