Well, the first bit of advise I can give you is this:

Even though that a laptop has the word "lap" in it's name, it is not designed to be used on your lap. You aren't supposed to use it while it is sitting on your lap.

Laptop ventilation is designed to work only when it is sitting on a flat surface.


As long as you get a cooling pad that fits your laptop, then you should be fine. Just keep in mind that it should be kept on flat surfaces when it's being used. If you want to use it on your lap, get like a cutting board or large book to rest it on to let the air flow the way its designed to.
