Yeah it will still display 2048*1536 with VGA. What I mean buy out of steam is that it will display a still image at that resolution so technically it can display it however if you tried to run something that was GPU intensive it wouldn't work very well at the resolution. You would get very low FPS. Its more suited to run at 1280*1024

Can you tell me anything about this monitor? For comparison, I'm borrowing this monitor from my desktop right now. The Acer one is really cheap and it looks like a lot better quality then my current Dell one. Also, my laptop is Acer, and the color is pretty desaturated. Do you think I'll have this problem with the monitor?
