Eeeeh, while I'm inclined to agree, at the same time, lots of people don't have the time, nor the patience to do so. Frankly, I had no idea who the guy was; I doubt most people in NA would be able to rattle off any Judeo-Christian martyrs besides the 'Jee-man' or feast days, let alone those from another religion.

Sure! Of course, you're absolutely right. All I'm saying is if you don't have the time or effort or whatever to learn about the culture you're bitching about, you don't get to bitch. Before you start developing any feelings whatsoever you need to stop and realize "Holy shit, I have no idea what's going on here, I should shut the fuck up."

It's the reaction that's dumb. If this person had just dialed up the storekeeper and said, 'um, can I ask you what the dealio here is?' , then this would've likely been a non-issue.
