Horrible characters, but human beings. I don't suggest honor, but decency. If someone wants to see the image, show it to them. If someone doesn't, don't. Appeasement is not what I call on for this situation, either. We are far from it, too - our "war on terrorism" is still in full effect, that is, we aren't sitting around in idleness anymore. Imagine a native person in the Middle East, living their life peacefully, seeing the images on a television somewhere - another reason to have an anti-America feeling, because America invaded their life with an untraditional act with a gruesome bringing. They didn't ask it - maybe they did believe us the first time.
