Who says that myths and illusions can't be the thoughts that we are the highest life form, leaving us to a false arrogance.

Because our beliefs are NOT based in myths and illusions but in logic and objectivity?

Please don't make sensationalist false claims when you clearly have not made an effort to understand the philosophy behind Atheism. I thoroughly resent this false statement you made as it is the highest form of intellectual injustice that is targeted at Atheists and Agnostics today.

Yeah, because if we think we are the highest life forms, then we are automatically arrogant right?

FYI, the knowledge that we are the highest life form leads to humbleness and the highest level of responsibility as human beings rather than a feeling of arrogance as you falsely claim. Claims such as yours are the usual garbage thrown at Atheists by religious folks; the same self-righteous folks who claim the world is full of sinners in need of salvation (like as if there are no other problems to solve).

Also, I feel more responsible as an Agnostic than I ever was as a Christian. And I was a devout Christian at that. But I was indifferent; I saw the world as sinners and believers just as you do today. You can't go about solving the world's problems with that attitude. As an Agnostic, I see EVERONE as a human being and have a greater respect for human life, the world we live in, the environment that we must protect for future generations and the animal species that must be preserved. There is no place for "the earth is going to end" bull.

I feel disgusted when Bible thumpers get all excited and hyped up when Israel goes to war because apparently these are the "end-times."

Your Bible reinforced those beliefs. And all this from a book that is claimed to be the inspired word of the all-knowing God (with capital G).

You aren't using logic here. We're humans, we're wrong sometimes, but a mistake like that doesn't make EVERYTHING we say wrong...

I never have not used logic.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Bible is supposed to the inspired word of God. As I understood, God came down to men in many forms (dreams, revelations, voice, visions) and that made men write down the books that you call the Bible. I know you never heard that because no Christian wants to go into what "inspired by God" really means. The men wrote down in their ignorance what they felt to be true at the time. NOBODY wants to talk more about the whole "God-inspired" issue.

Now unless the man (and men) were a bunch of total retards, why would they make repeated mistakes over and over again in several books spanning years apart of the Bible simply reflecting the limited knowledge of the then-prevailing understanding of the world?

and please give me your sources on that. I've seen no where in the bible, or on the internet where God said that the world is flat.

That's the problem. If God had said it, then the Bible would be correct no? But as explained above, men in their lack of knowlege and ignorance wrote the Bible.

Quote:

And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. Rev 7:1

Quote:

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Ps 103:12

And don't tell me these verses are not to be taken literally because I have other verses that would blow you away.

There are many many more verses that the Catholic Church in Europe upheld as the truth. And the only reason Christians don't believe this garbage from their own Bible today is because clearly the times have changed and scientific discoveries that you have learned in middle school are the accepted and dominant answers to ancient ignorance.
