Well I would have to put in a lot of thought to it. It would also need to be a question to which the answer would be something lasting, rather than a one time thing.

So asking who planned 9/11 would be a complete waste of this situation. "Oh, it was them... well ok good... now what?"

Asking if there is a God is, although a better question to ask than the 9/11 one, it would cause chaos. People who did believe in God find out there isn't and possibly go insane. Or people find out there is one and thus lose all faith in themselves to go on living.

Asking if there is an afterlife would promote suicide.

Asking if there are aliens is much like the 9/11 one. "Ok.. now what?"

You need to weigh out both sides of the equation. Making something like this a very hard thing to think about.

So far I think Oblivion has the best question, with the mechanics of Time travel. However, science thus far has speculated theories of how to do it, the only thing they need really are reference points in time to use as cornerstones. How would you tell a machine that travels through time to go to a specific time period based on Human time? There needs to be a specific way to navigate time.

I suppose that would be a good question, however asking the most general of questions about time travel and asking for very specific answers would suit it better though.
