Try reinstalling renegade. normally solves a lot of problems, no doubt if you have RG installed thats causing your problem

Can you please present incontrevertable proof of Renguard mucking about with DDraw.dll, Kernel32.dll or ATI's drivers in ME please.

Relax man, he was just trying to help. Renegade is buggy as hell as we all know, and reinstalling often helps solve it.
A mod might like to move this to the Tech Support section as well.
