Err...flame tanks are real. We just don't see them made in the exact mechanical configuration of the Nod flamer from Renegade.

NOTE: Any current Main Battle Tank (MBT) can be upgraded with flame equipment/weaponry thus effectively voiding the immense costs of having a seperate vehicle for such missions.
