One thing to consider: XP was built as a 32 bit OS and had 64 bit edition tacked on later, while Vista 64 bit was built from the start as a 64 bit OS. I have not used XP 64 bit so I don't know how stable it is, but I would personally prefer Vista in any case.

Aside from the fact it's a bit of a memory hog, it's VERY good in my opinion, and the latest updates and enhancements have solved a lot of the performance issues. Also SP1 is just around the corner, so those who always say wait for SP1 before getting Vista, here's your chance. Thumbs Up

Anyway, I have been using Vista since BEFORE it was released in the stores ( MSDNAA members got it about 2 weeks before the official release ), and I have yet to have any real problems with it, or find any software I could not run.
