We have hate crime laws too, but that does NOTHING to go against someone's freedom of life and liberty. That's quite a jump you (and probably your country) made, there.

NOBODY has the right to NOT be offended. The blacks at that school may have been pissed off and hurt, but they weren't stopped from being able to live their lives. They weren't stopped from voicing their opinion. When it was all said and done, NONE of their rights (as laid out by the Bill of Rights) were impeded on.
