Recently I used the indipendance exploit for my ps2 to make it play snes and nes games since some of my old cartridges dont work anymore, they ran full speed off a USB thumbdrive on my playstation 2, then theres my sister and I who have anime as avi files on DVD (entire series), it's a pain to watch things on a computer with such a small screen, so i found a program called SMS.elf which plays avi files off USB harddrives and dvd's, now besides playing dvd's i am able to play mp3, avi, mpeg, and jpeg on my ps2, beats having a apple TV or laptop connected to the television just to watch something on the big screen, the avi files all played at high quality and full speed with full controls such as fast forward, skip into timeline, stop, pause, play, just like a dvd or playing movies on your PC, I just thought this would be kinda cool to share if you know how to use .elf files on your ps2, that you can play avi files off DVD's

I reccomend using a USB hardrive, it plays full speed for usb 1.0 on the ps2, playing a DVD with avi files is not normally recognized by the ps2's coding, so inserting the disc normally will not make it boot, the only way is to have a modded ps2, or using the swap method, insert a ps2 game into the tray, go into one of the game's folders, then use your swap key or homemade swap key to switch the game for the avi disc, then go back to the root of the disc and it will show the folder containing all your avi/mp3/jpeg files. I might record a video of it in action sometime, so if you wanna try this, i might do it.

YOU CANNOT USE .ELF FILES UNLESS YOU HAVE A ELF LOADER, ELF IS LIKE A EXE FILE FOR A COMPUTER, BUT FOR PS2, I WILL NOT HELP YOU WITH LOADING ELF FILES UNLESS YOU HAVE THE PROGRAM ALREADY AND HAVE BOOTED ELF's BEFORE.

Note, make sure the avi files you are playing, you own, it's illegal to download stuff you dont own, same for the mp3 files.
