so i was just on the computer, doin wat i always do and my radeon 9600 card just crashed. i know its an old card but itsm good for renegade... anyway, my display settings dont even recognize a video card in the comp. except for the motherboards crappy video card.

Uninstall the drivers completely. Have the card in your PC and turn it on with your monitor connected to it. Does the video even output anything in the BIOS when connected to the card? If so, the hardware is probably good. If not, it MAY be going bad, unless you're computer's BIOS isn't picking it up.
If it works as above, install the drivers. Try Omega drivers maybe (Google for them). I've heard he tweaks those things for great performance/quality. Too bad he stopped tweaking drivers for nVidia's more recent cards due to a mishap between him and the company.
