You require to forward the ports: 5500, 5800 and 5900 to your internal ip if you want others to connect to you. If you want to connect to them they can forward whatever ports they want just aslong as the ports are the same in the server config dialog. The port 5800 serves as a java viewer for those who don't have vnc viewer.
Basicly put, you can use any port you want as long as it's forwarded to your internal IP and is linked in the server config dialog.
If you want to view the other machine you don't need to forward ports, since it automaticaly does it for you once it finds the connection at the other end. Only the machine/network needs to open the respective ports it uses.
