Gameplay is most likely pending because there are no other players in the game. Multiplayer LAN, or Local Area Network, is used to play with other people on the same network as you, usually other people in your household. What you probably want to do is play Multiplayer Online. Which, on the main menu is accessed via the Multiplayer link. From there, you can either use GameSpy Arcade (external program) or WOL (Westwood Online) which is now ran by XWIS and is the preferable choice. You will then select Advanced Game Listings. You will be prompted to log in to an account. Simply type the username you wish to use online, then the password you wish to use and the account will automatically be created for you. You can now play with other players online.
