I absolutely agree with that. It's ridiculous. Not only do many developers think everyone has a l33tbox of pwnage, but they also think that their little programs are the only programs that are going to be running. So what's the consequences? You get massive amounts of memory, CPU, and network usage and no *REAL* speed increases compared to machines that could do the exact same thing 10 years ago in (quite literally) the same amount of time.
