It wouldn't surprise me. The general strategy seems to be to be:

1. Assess risk

If risk is valid:
2. Stop information flow, edit forum posts etc. to stop people discussing it openly in a (vain) attempt to make sure cheaters don't hear about it, that way the hole isn't an issue.

If risk is not valid:
2. Let the person know and move on.

It's the same today, naming of cheats or even google search suggestions to prove a point get edited by the moderators.

I consider it closing the door after the horse has bolted, but that's the way things seem to work around here.
