first off windows is very unstable and crashes often, poeple can say this never happens but that is because they don't push like i do.

If you have powerful enough hardware, correct drivers, good configuration and stable software there will be no problems. Your "pushing" implies that somehow you are hitting a software bottleneck. Id love to know what that is.

i have overclocked the proccessor to the max and it over heats regulary. i have enough spyware to give tell the whole us when i go to the toilet.

First off, overclocking your CPU will cause all sorts of problems if you do not do it properly. How can you expect any OS to run on dodgy hardware? It cannot. If you have spyware then that's your fault. I hav eWindows installed here and it is not riddled with spyware.

I was wondering if there is a way to get rengaurd working with cedega. i was wondering if i run cedega twice once to run Game.exe and the second to run Game2.exe?

Havent heard of a way but if you find a way please let us know. I too run openSUSE. Of course I have Windows too because of Rengaurd.

cedega runs renegade very well.

Indeed Smile

does anybody have problems with windows?

It all depends what people are after in an OS. Sure I have problems and they are generally around lack of built in programs that I require. For example, *nix has the ability to chain commands together. For example if I want to see how many Apache (httpd) processes I am running, I can tell *nix to find all of the running processes, find all of the httpd ones, then do a line count. Output is simply the number. How do I do that in Windows? I have no idea. I would probably have to script it.

in suse linux if anything like that happens like the white screen it starts a crash handler that stops it *IMMEDIETLY* not it ten minits or an hour.

The kernel is different... and events are different. You can tune this in Windows but its not great by any means.

also the multitasking on suse linux is incredible, nothing windows could match. although i need windows for 3dsmax i can use Vmware which is good and windows seems to be more stable running in it.

Really? Both are multitasking and both do it diffently. Mute point really. If your Windows is running better in a VM it does rather point to dodgy windows drivers when you run it natively.

Give it time and I am sure you will have equal fustrations with Suse. The point I am making is that each OS is different however they both require management on the user's part. It is impossible to say which is "better" or more "secure". Obviously this arguement is nothing new. However, if suse meets your requirements more than Windows does then great.

hehe, not only that people want STABILITY which windows lacks. you need STABILITY in a server.

I run Windows and Solaris servers. To be honest Solaris has more uptime. Why? Well to be perfectly honest its always (to date) a hardware problem. The HP servers that run Windows are nearly always failing with NIC problems. They have dual nics, but they are built in to the motherboard. This means we have to take down the server and replace the mobo. So far, Sun hardware hasnt been a problem. As far as the OS goes, no problems so far.

I just checked the services bounce stats and they are fairly even. Windows is slightly higher but thats because they are running IBM WebSphere which seems to have a habit of getting java.exe to do crazy memory things. So all in all, OS-wise they are pretty even.
