Despite how much of it is true or not, you still have to be careful who or what you attribute it to.

True, but is it because of some mass-indoctination by a group of people who follow an unseen entity? Or is it the government trying to keep itself in power? Or is it because the majority of the people actually believe this, and all that occurs is something that self-sustains the belief?

True, but is it because of this entity, or is it simply an attempt at corporations to get people to purchase their products/governments in an attempt to keep (or get) themselves elected?
Just because things may seem a certain way, doesn't mean they are that ONE specific way.
After all, I've never seen the Illuminati, and I though believing in invisible pink unicorns was bad?
