Sadly it's not something that can be isolated to paranoia or senseless liberalism. It's called zealotry and no self respecting religious person would ever subscribe to such childish "duck and cover"ing.

God supposedly gave us brains and I find it highly probable He wouldn't do that unless He intended us to use them to discern reality from fiction.
