On Linux: It's great..etc.
However, all the crapola about dependancies really does annoy me, if I want to install a program on Linux there's a good chance I'll either have to "apt-get install" the dependancies, or, because that's often not worked, find them manually on the internet and compile/install them. Another thing that annoys me is Xgl/Compiz. I have to admit, the effects are pretty cool, but only if you have a decent graphics card that someone can be bothered to make Linux drivers for, and besides, I hate anything that doesn't have Antialiasing nowadays. Razz

Oh, and it's far from finished, and plays Videos and other graphicky things rubbishly.

On Windows: I don't see why everyone hates it so much! I have a Sempron64 3400+ with 512Mb RAM and I've probably had more crashes on Ubuntu/MacOS than on Windows. I've never had a single virus/spyware (Of course, that depends on the websites one visits!) and it hardly ever seems slow or sluggy without me accidentally putting an infinite loop in a script or something.

All in all, I think Ubuntu and MacOS both have great potential, as does Vista, but, at the moment, there simply isn't enough worldwide support or programs to make them a completely viable solution for me.
Therefore, I'll stick with what I got now. Big Grin

Has anyone actually got Renegade/RenGuard/WOL working under Cedega? I don't like Cedega (Crap license, Open Source all the way!) but I do use it. Rocked Over

If ubuntu messes up on you, it's because you set it up wrong.

I have Xgl and I can run MULTIPLE H.264 videos at decent resolutions and overlap them, make them transparent, and do all kinds of other stuff with them and they don't lag. In Windows, ONE H.264 video that is a pretty decent resolution will lag a whole lot for me. There's nothing more to say here.

I don't see what's wrong with apt-get install. It works perfectly fine for me. I think it's nice because I can easily find a free program with a package manager, instead of having to search Google (and most likely find a trial).
