In some areas due to aging telephone systems and excahanges one can only get about 1.3 Mb down anyway. the speeds aren't constant. they are very hardware dependant.

yes i know, i was just showing what they were advitising. i was with telewest before, they said i have 10mbit downstream and 365kbit upstream for £35 a month. i got, at the most, 1mbit down and 100kbit up. and their cable... not ADSL...
