Anyway, back onto Slipknot, I'm having a listen to left behind and I can't say it grips me as a good song. I know it wouldn't be slipknot but maybe (on the singing parts) if some other band member(s) added a 3rd or 4th note harmony and sang it in the same key as the riff then it would sound alot better; kind of System-Of-A-Down-esque.
The whole structure and form of the songs sounds pretty decent, I like how it's put together.
You see the thing about Duality for me is that the singing is bang on, the drumming sounds brilliant, the other guitar(ist/s) are playing counter melodies (in the chorus) and it's something you can really nod/bang your head to. Now when the songs starts, the simple bass line helps to the build up, as the drums come in the texture builds and the whole things starts to feel alot deeper.
I'll have a listen to Gently now..

I don't think I could sway you into anything on Iowa. Gently is more of a musical solo.
Be sure you check out their new album. It was directed by Rick Rubin, He has done some amazing things. He directs all of the System of a Down albums.
