In Photoshop go to File>Save for web and you will be able to reduce file sizes a LOT.

I just did that and the difference between that and the highest quality JPG version was only 200kb.

Glyde, you don't need to resize all of the images. Just use HTML to do that, and make it a link to the full version (called a thumbnail). But it isn't the best way, it still loads the entire image, so I guess resizing the picture for the thumbnail image would be better.
