Rescue the scientists level (spoilers) [message #-980042]

I've taken out the Hand of Nod with an Ion cannon beacon, but I can't find how to get to the scientists through the Hand. Am I supposed to go through it in the first place, or do I have to go all the way back around through the crater impact site that way? I cant even find the MCT in the Hand.

One of hte elevator doors doesn't open, if that helps.
