Humvee/Jeep bumper cars! [message #-976241] Tue, 02 April 2002 13:22 Go to previous message

I have a funny little tactic which can work quite well in a heated game. If performed correctly, a Humvee/Jeep can take out even a fully armored APC by just ramming into it! It's true!

The strategy is quite simple, and I'm surprised that nobody has used it yet. You need to do get Humvee/Jeep, and be a Hotwire/Technician. Then, all you need to do is drive it behind some building with no teammates nearby (so that some idiot doesn't steal it), plant all your proximity mines on the hood of your car, refill, rinse, repeat. The whole process doesn't take too long, you only need about 30 seconds if you're fast (it wastes some time, since you generally don't have much money when you resort to this tactic). As the bomb won't blow up near team units, you can enter and drive your vehicle without them ever exploding. All you need to do at this point is seek out an enemy vehicle and ram into it headfirst, then watch the fireworks ensue =)

As the proximity mines can pile up on each other, sometimes you can get a little creative when designing your bumper car. One time, I made a proximity mine "ramming horn" that spanned the entire length of the vehicle. You can imagine the surprise of the medium tank I encountered later that game.

Another, more powerful use of the tactic requires a teammate, and is useful for clans. Just get an engineer to load up your hood with remote mines (as they are MUCH more powerful than proximity) and have him get into a safe vantage point on the battlefield. Then you can deliver the pyrotechnics to the nearest enemy unit (or even his base, kamikaze mined APC's are quite sufficient for knocking out base defenses) and the engineer can blow them up from afar. Neither of you are killed, the enemy unit is gone, and lots of people are probably laughing at this point.

Now if you think this works well on Jeeps and Humvess, wait until you try it on other vehicles. Trust me when I say there is no uglier thing than a flame tank loaded to the teeth with some mines...one of those means the end of any building or vehicle, period. Conversely, a proximity mine coat on a GDI tank can be an unpleasant surprise for the flame tank that gets too close...

Have fun everyone! =)
