How much RAM do you have? 96 MB is the minimum amount , and Windows 98 doesnt like 512MB ram or more
And a Voodoo 3 isnt compatible with Renegade

Why isn't it compatible? I've never tried, but I can't think of a reason unless it doesn't have enough memory.

On topic, what exactly is the question? What hardware to get to run Renegade or what to upgrade first?

Also, more info required on system specs.

Only some of them work. I have a Voodoo Banshee in my IRC server and it runs Renegade all distorted.

I had a Voodoo 3 3500, but Renegade only ran in Win98 mode.

Maybe try set it to software mode, it will not look as good though.
And you need a fast cpu and a lil more ram for it. But it works usually...

(btw: Just get a nice GF AGP card or an ATI one, you can get them for less than 50$, nice cards, not maximum quality of course but its enough to play normal games today.)

That would probably be the most expedient solution. Just go to Wal-Mart(or equivalent) and get a FX 5200 Ultra. Contrary to what most of the Frame Junkies around here will tell you, the 5200 Ultra is probably the best Entry class video card available. It will certainly make your Voodoo look like a pile of dren in comparison.
