I'm trolling? I'M TROLLING!? Are you serious? Jesus Christ, Jonathan... you're one of the biggest trolls in this forum. You look around for any instance of the word "skin" and then start to huff and puff about how the proper term is "texture". Well guess what troll, no one gives a fuck!

The irony of this is that you're doing exactly what you proclaim that I do, get "huffy and puffy" over a post. It's amazing that you don't care, seeing as how you're still replying and finding all the posts you can from me that you can reply to.

Don't keep riding on the Hypocrite Train, it's headed for Idiotville.

And true it is.

Here's some bedtime reading for you, Aircraftkiller:

Quote:

A texture that is used to wrap around an entire model. Normally skins are drawn on a single bitmap, and then the coordinates are mapped onto the vertices of the model.

Quote:

On the Internet, a skin is a graphic or audio file used to change the appearance of the user interface for a program or for a game character.Skins can usually be downloaded at no charge from sites that provide them. When using a skin, the appearance of the user interface changes, but not the functions available with the program.

http://www.geek.com/glossary/glossary_search.cgi?s
Quote:

Skin - A graphic or graphic scheme that is placed over a 2D or 3D object. For 3D games such as Quake, you can wrap a 2D graphic skin around your 3D character to change its appearance. Another skin example would be a Web browser that customizes the way it looks. Most programs that allow the use of skins have publicly available standards for creating new skins.

http://www.pcwebopaedia.com/TERM/S/skin.html
Quote:

An element of a graphical user interface that can be changed to alter the look of the interface without affecting its functionality. Skins can give an interface an entirely different look than what it originally came with.

But of course, they are all idiots, right?

If I needed attention, I'd dress up in a donkey suit and dance to Wang Chung at the corner of John Sims Parkway and Eglin Parkway. I'm simply posting my opinions, like you are. Except that the real difference between us is that you're an idiot.

You're right. I don't think you're an idiot. No one at all thinks you're an idiot. Why would anyone think that you're an idiot? You're simply going on a one man crusade against the use of acceptable gaming terminology. That's not idiotic at all. I think I may join you, actually.

Deafwasp, Panther, --oo00o00oo--, NeoX... we are all behind your non-idiotic crusade 100%. I salute you sir.

no, your not just posting your opinions when you make an arguement about a texture being called a skin and what not, last page after page and even jump from topic to topic.

I believe this all just comes down to ACK trying to subjugate the world in his lust for power.

Originally, game developers who had no lives and worked in studios all day long used the phrase texture maps for their textures. Then, as modding became more popular and spread out to normal people who use computers, they gave texture maps the obvious title of "skin." Call them what you want, it's just your preference. But ACK wants everyone to call them a texture map to try and assert his power, while simultaneously using bigger words than many people who read internet forums can understand.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)
