Server Matrix is going to lose a LOT of customers, and Renegade will lose a LOT of servers if everyone doesn't get their asses in this thread on their forums RIGHT NOW and support my stance on this issue.

http://forums.servermatrix.com/viewtopic.html?t=7151&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Even if you don't run a server, or you run it elsewhere... just show your support for my stance on here before every server running a bot that connects to IRC will have to be shut down or run without a regulator.

There, I threw my support behind you, even though I have no comprehension of this whole IRC thing other than I like bots.

I support Crimson.

it's very simple. Client does not equal server. Their AUP says server, BRenBot/BR.NET/etc are clients. Case closed.

Alkaline is the problem. He's trying to get everyone kicked off. He was told by SM not to use even a client.

A datacentre isnt gonna change its TOS for a 50 odd people, when it has more then 10000 customers to protect.

In the end it doesn't matter if you are who you say you are. You will still mean nothing to me.

When i have kids, everytime i drive past a fast food restaurant, im gonna punch my kid in the face, then they'll never wanna come..

Alkaline is nothing but a moron. What i said made perfect sense, i did not say i ran a server, but i do know how much IRC is used, because i mod in lots of them, and i have actually ran a server before, just not at the moment. Was i correct in what i said in my first post?

Quote:

I may not have ran a server, but I am moderator on quite a few (all n00bstories.com servers, End of Evolution Clan servers to name a few) And I am also an IRC user. If you disallow use of IRC you will be killling many servers, lossing buisness. With out these applications that use IRC we can not effectivly mod our servers to give players the best gaming experience possible, and won't be able to do a lot of other cool stuff that these applications let us do

And, this alkaline guy is a ass, i would VERY highly suggest that nothing that comes out of his mouth be trusted, or taken seriously. The Renegade Forums community has already had to put up with him, leading to an fan club even of people that hated him and wanted him banned, weeks of post doing nothing but asking him to leave, and eventually leading to his ban. Take this into consideration before you take anything he says and run wiht it.

They ARE changing the AUP, to specifically say that no IRC or IRC-like traffic of ANY kind (including bots or as a client) are permitted Sad It still remains to be seen if they are going to shutdown the 20+ servers running irc bots.

I don't understand, how is Server Matrix able to dictate what you can and cannot do?

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Sorry, I didn't read the topic far enough.
