Is the GeForce 5900xt a good card for $200? I just saw it at Best Buy, and since im looking to upgrade from this GeForce4mx it seemed pretty good. Anyone thoughts on this--or does anyone own this card? Thanks.

5200 doesn't suck. It's not the best but for its price, its a very good deal.

And $200 for the 5900XT is an even better deal in my opinion.

No matter what brand you buy all cards are going to have different clock speeds. But the highest end nividia one I saw the Gigabyte or something like it had the highest clock speed and core speed of any card.

On the downside im sure it generates a LOT of heat

Yeah, I got mine for 80$. It may not be the best, but it beats the hell out of my old TNT2.

Yah, I saw that card for 99$. Im told I wouldnt see much of an improvement (if any) over my GeForce 4mx.

When you install a video card, do you need to use a power plug (like that connects to teh hard drive or power supplier?) Some say I do some say I dont, by the way it would be an AGP card.

The high-end cards like the FX5950 or possibly the 5900 and above need direct power from the comp.

The 5200 and 5600 don't.

Does the geforce 5700 need a power source? Cannot find any information on it anywhere as to if it needs it! Ahh thanks.

If it doesn't specify it probably doesn't need one.
