They do it just to keep down flamage between forum goers. Mobius mentioned what the history of the silo was. So Crimson and Blazer have kept it going that way.

Don't worry, we've only moved like 2 or 3 threads there ever... and one was a thread I created to move spam posts to. It IS actually useful to move threads to the Silo instead of deleting, so the other moderators can see which types of threads have been handled instead of them vanishing without a trace.
I'm the bawss.
